From Prospect to Planned Gift:

Using Research to Find Your Best Planned Giving Leads

How can you identify the people in your community who are most likely to make a planned gift—and know where to focus your time first?

Research is critically important whether you work in planned giving, fundraising, financial advising, accounting, or estate planning because it can transform a passive, hope-based strategy into a predictable pipeline for transformational, long-term community impact.

Join Lindsay Webster, Senior Portfolio Strategist at UC Davis, for a practical session on using prospect research to identify, prioritize, and engage your strongest planned giving prospects. By attending you’ll gain a better understanding of what makes a planned giving prospect different—and how research can help you find the right people and start more productive conversations.

You’ll leave with practical strategies for:

  • Identifying your top leads: Learn how to use prospect research to uncover individuals who may have the capacity, inclination, and characteristics that make them strong planned giving prospects.

  • Understanding the planned giving donor: Explore what can make a planned giving donor different from someone who makes a cash gift—and what those differences mean for your outreach.

  • Prioritizing your prospects: Once you’ve identified a pool of potential planned gift donors, learn how to segment and prioritize that pool so you can focus your time and energy where it matters most.

  • Finding free research tools and resources: Discover accessible, no-cost resources you can use to enhance your prospect research and inform your work.
